    Kid Reports

Communication is taken to the next level at The Learning Tree. Parents receive constant updates and pictures regarding their child's day. "Kids Reports is really wonderful. It's nice to be able to take a look during the day and see what my daughter has been up to. Whether she napped or ate all her bottles. etc. I also really love getting pictures while I'm at work!" -Brooke Mullender, Parent.

At The Learning Tree we are passionate about the healthiest and safest choices. We are proud to be the first childcare center in the State of Michigan to use ZONO Sanitizer as an additional step in our cleaning procedure in each classroom. We have watched illness drop year after year and have ZONO to thank.

In January 2012 she was also given the chance to grow even more with The Learning Tree and transfer to The Livonia - South location and be the Lead Preschool Teacher!   In September 2012 Paula was given the opportunity to become the Director at the South Lyon location!

She currently holds a Bachelors of Science in elementary education with a major in language arts and a minor in early childhood education from Eastern Michigan University. In her spare time Paula likes to spend time with her friends and her family!  She also enjoys reading and spending time outside gardening.  Paula is very passionate about watching children grow while they are here at The Learning Tree!

Karen Ballard

Regional Director / Director

Learning Tree Child CareMy name is Karen Ballard and I began my career with The Learning Tree in August of 1998 as a Head Teacher in a toddler classroom. My passion for early childhood education was fueled in that class and my love for children and their families grew. In June of 2002 I switched gears a bit and transferred to The South Lyon Learning Tree as the center Director. It was as a Director that I became enthusiastic about watching children and teachers grow and learn. In December of 2003, I was given the opportunity to be Regional Director, overseeing the operations of all three Learning Trees.

As Regional Director, I have the pleasure of traveling from center to center throughout the week, talking with parents, training the administration at each center and I still find the time to do what I love most - play  with the children! This past September, I opened The Learning Tree’s newest center as the Director of The Learning Tree—West!

I graduated from William Tyndale College in December of 1998 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and am continuing my education at Madonna University.

I have a five-year-old daughter, Olivia and when I am not at work we enjoy playing princess, having tea parties and practicing our ballerina skills! We recently took a trip to Disney where we met many Disney princesses! I also love being outside in the sunshine and crafting it up!

I look forward to being a part of each child’s early learning experience and know that The Learning Tree is the perfect fit for you and your family.
